Dimanche... is the first in what should become a series of projects.
After intensly renovating my house for about two years, I wanted to give form plastically to every single room. This representation shoud be a reference to how the room looked, how it has changed or how it will look like eventually. The fact that every room has been given a seperate style, should be reflected by the end result of every project.
For 'Grand Tour Happening' I've used the original ceiling boards of the living room, cut up, rearranged and reattached to form the word Dimanche.
Dimanche is a poetic-sounding word, that exudes calmth and serenity. It's the day people have their sleep out, visit a museum, go for a drive, go fishing, visit relatives. Dimanche also refers to amateur artists, who only paint on Sunday; an activity that has the same esthetic principles as renovating a house.
