This work was clearly influenced by a recent project I did in Portsmouth. Portsmouth has a long naval history, which can be seen all over town. One such a symbol of this history is the Jolly Roger, the archetypical pirate flag, which later was eagerly reused by the marines, embellishing it further, per boat or submarine, with their own symbols.
